Traffic Infraction Charge | Being Pulled Over for a Traffic Infraction
In New York State, if you’re pulled over for a traffic infraction, more commonly known as a Stop sign or speeding, you could be fined. In certain jurisdictions, if you continue to do this, or you have a prior past record, the judge, if he saw fit, put you in jail for a day to or two or up to 15 days in jail for a violation. The fines for a first offender can be up to $150, with a mandatory New York State surcharge of anywhere between $80 and $95, depending on the jurisdiction that you’re in.

Traffic Infraction Charge | Hiring an Attorney for a Traffic Infraction
If you’re charged with a traffic infraction, most commonly known as speeding, or stop signs, or some violation of the vehicle and traffic law, you can fill out the ticket, send it in, and do it on your own. However, I don’t recommend that. If somebody was to call me, I like to tell my clients, “One call does it all.” I can do that for them. My clients void having to miss work. They avoid having to sit in a room full of people that potentially they may work with, or it might be one of their neighbors, and they don’t want to have the embarrassment of somebody seeing them in that predicament. I can generally go on their behalf. They would sign what’s called a waiver of appearance if we have good cause for that, and I can avoid my clients from having to sit in court, miss work, and potentially some undue embarrassment.
